Healing Touch was founded in 1989 as a continuing education program for nurses, massage therapists, other health care professionals, and lay persons. Today, Healing Touch is taught in universities, medical and nursing schools, and other settings around the world.It offers benefits such as reducing stress, promoting relaxation and calming effects, is often used in hospitals in the surgical setting to enhance recovery, wound healing, and decreasing pain.And it is also a beneficial complementary therapy for injuries, easing sympotoms from acute and chronic conditions and creates a sense of well-being.It is also utilized in cancer supportive care as well and assists in the reduction of chemotherpay and radition side effects, easing emotional distress, and supporting quality of life and transitions. What Happens During a Healing Touch Session?
You lay fully clothed on a massage table, during treatment the practitioner uses gentle touch either on or off the body to assist in restoring harmony and balance in the physical mental,emotional, and spiritual aspects of the self. The practitioner focuses on clearing the energy field, bringing about harmony and balance, and generally causing a relaxation effect. This helps the body by supporting the body’s natural healing ability and self-healing process. The session generally lasts 15 to 30 minutes, and people frequently report feeling deeply relaxed and peaceful during and after the session. Because there may be a cumulative effect of using Healing Touch over time, regular sessions are recommended.
